                                                       Weekend with Dr. Doug Bailey
A group of about 40 St. John's members and friends from this NKY community and the Washington UCC congregation met together with Dr. Bailey.  One of our goals has been to more fully relate to the theological and scriptural basis for the work we do, as we try to carry out Christ's call that we love and serve each other.  Our hope is to understand at a deeper level the reality of what that is like as we continue ministry in the urban settings where we live and worship.

ST. JOHN'S YOUTH GROUP PARKS CARS FOR FUN & PROFIT

Our energetic and spirited St. John's Youth Group under the tutelage of Caitlin Askarpour organized a gala Newport Fireworks parking event.  Sixty-five parking spaces around the church were quickly gobbled up by folks looking for a safe and convenient place to park during the Labor Day Weekend fireworks extravaganza.  Along with the parking, the teens sold pop and bottled water to throngs of thirsty passersby.  Pizza, games, and a trip to the levee for fireworks capped off another grand day in the life of our church.  Thanks to Allison, Callie, Ryan, Ben, Hanna, Mallory, Emma, Miranda & Darrickk for serving our church and community in this very unique way.  Special thanks, also to Caitlin for her planning, enthusiasm & great supervision - also for allowing Randy, Cindy & Bill to enjoy the view from a safe distance!  Here's a great group photo from Randy Kitts...

St. John's COAP Missionaries Return from Harlan, KY

Once again, our faithful group of COAP Missionaries has returned safely from a glorious week of sharing the love of Christ through "hands-on" service to needy folks in Harlan, Kentucky.  This year's group included: Tammy & Christie Watts; Steve, Debbie & Anne Hecky; Steve & Jeri McLane; Dick & Mary Straman; Colin Ruesch and Lindsey Cross.  Our "roving reporter/carpenter/photographer" Tammy Watts reported that all went well on this year's roof & deck construction project.  "Of course we got our usual share of bumps and bruises along the way," Tammy told us.  At last sighting, Dick Straman was still favoring his head-bump and Mary Straman had the subtle aroma of Ben-Gay around her "post hole diggin'" shoulders, but the bright smiles on the entire crew seemed to make it all worthwhile.  Enjoy a few of Tammy's photos from the week...
St. John's Sometime This Week Golf League

Enjoy a few pictures from our weekly golf outings at Southern Ohio, Northern Kentucky courses.  We share eagles, birdies, pars, bogies, lessons, laughs, and lots of good stories.  Call Don Wickelhaus if you would like to join us "sometime, some week" for a golf outing.
